you could try the drive in another computer as a slave and run disk check and fix errors, this may fix any errors, but i doubt it.
can also enable / disable the S.M.A.R.T detection through their CMOS setup. usually pressing delete at startup will get into cmos
if you can disable smart, and it starts up, do an immediate backup of files and folders.
if its still under guarantee take it back now!
if not buy a new drive.
