Solved revert back from ultimate anytime upgrade to home premium.

  • 2

i have store-bought whole PC that came with home premium installed. i did the anytime upgrade but now want home premium back. i have come to know it isn’t possible to simply revert back. the anytime upgrade does NOT allow me to format and reinstall. Im not fond of essentially being locked out of the whole function of my computer.

i downloaded the ISO for home premium x64 and Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool

will having changed C; to active partition [that before i changed it appeared to have no assignation because the ‘mark partition as active’ was click-able.]

Im not computer savvy so any advice you can give will be entirely helpful. thank you for your response.

  1. Found some possible workaround:

here is a “simple” hack which allows you to embed the downgrade procedure in Windows 7.

    Click Start.
In the Search Box, type regedit and press Enter.
Navigate to this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftware Microsoft Windows NTCurrentVersion

In the right pane, click EditionID and ProductName and give them the value which corresponds to a lower Windows 7 edition. Here is an example:

Windows 7 Home Premium (downgrade from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 7 Home Premium)
    EditionID: HomePremium
    ProductName: Windows 7 HomePremium

Start your Windows 7 installation by inserting your Windows 7 Disc.
Now, Select Upgrade as type of installation. Follow the instruction on the screen.
    Reactivate your operating system.”

If modifying the registry is scary try this application to change it for u:

And continue with Windows 7 installation…

Before you start anything make sure you have a backup of your valuable DATA!!!
