Printer Permissions For Redirected Printer

  • 0

Hi all,

I have a local PC which i work on with a printer attached fine with 2 trays but i also need to remote to a second PC elsewhere (both Windows 7) which i can do fine but the redirected printer settings on the remote PC are all grayed out and has removed the 2nd tray etc. I am in the administrator group on the remote PC and am able to unlock the settings by going into the printer properties > security tab and adding the Manage this Printer setting and making myself owner of the printer but don’t want to be doing this every time i logon, does anyone know any fix for this?

I have another couple of staff who work the same and in the same situation so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Matt.

  1. Go to “Start” > “Administrative Tools” > “Remote Desktop Services” > “Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration“. Select “Connections“, right-click the name of the connection > “Properties” > “Client Settings” > “Redirection“. Ensure that “Windows Printer” is not checked.

  2. Remote Desktop Network Printer Redirection
Click on the Start button and open Control Panel then open “Devices and Printers”
Right click on the network printer that needs to be redirected and choose “Printer Properties”
