it says that my fans on my HP Pavilion are not working that they might be blocked .is it safe for me to open the computer back .

Never known a virus disable fans – normally a hardware fault.

Agree with follow up posts, dust quite likely and is relatively easy to remove. While you are in there clean case vents and CPU heat sink (probably mentioned in one of the links below – not checked).

Before working inside, remove the main battery as well as the power – then hold the power on/off button in for a few seconds to discharge everything.

Try the compressed ‘air’ can first if it is a laptop and open the side panel and use the compressed air can if it is a desktop. If it has never been done before, it is possible that there is quite a bit of build up. Do not vacuum inside, but get one ready to clean up the mess you will make near by when you are finished.
