How To Change A Folder Name That Is Locked

  • 0

The folder in which My Documents, My Music, etc, is a locked folder with the name ‘jewlover’ Someone did this to my laptop maliciously, and have yet to change it back to something more respectable, rendering all professional usages of my laptop unusuable. How to I change this file name to something else. The folder itself is locked.

  1. Yeah, there’s some folders that windows doesn’t like you to rename. I believe this is for XP and I’m not sure it’ll work with 7:

It talks about editing the desktop.ini file. You may want to post back the contents of that file–it’s a small text file–so we can look at it.

Note that it’s a hidden file so you need to enable the viewing of hidden files first.

Edit I think you just need to open the jewlover folder and the desktop.ini file you need is there.
