Phots taken on HTC Wildfire phone, stored in microSD. Now have micro SD inserted via usb adapter into my laptop (windows). But can’t view photos. Can it be done? which program do I need to download to view? Ive tried dwonloading WinRar and a few others but they dont appear to have cocmpleted downloading (get bogged down in pop-up extras I dont want). What should I do? Please help! The photos are very special – of the birth of my friends baby!

Almost certainly pictures should be .jpg files but stupid Windows does not show this file extension by default. Go to “Control Panel > Folder Options > View”. Uncheck “Hide extensions for known file types”. For lots of reasons it is best to leave it that way – you just have to remember when you rename a file do not rename the extension as well.
Now plug your card in and go to “Computer”. See if the card shows as a drive. If so Open it and look inside it. Somewhere you ought to see some files with a jpg extension (maybe inside a DCIM or other folder). If so click one and see if it opens a picture.
You do not need any special program to view jpg files and it would be a crazy phone if it didn’t give you those. The tec files are not your pictures.
It might just be that you need to set the Windows AutoPlay to give you a pop-up when you plug the card in, with a Pictures option.
Let us know how you get on and we can take it further.
If you still can’t find the pictures anywhere, you could always email the pictures to yourself. It might be a little time consuming but at least you will have them on your computer.
