Decoding And Opening ~CR Extention

  • 0

Hi,
I was using the Card Recovery v5.30 build 1206 (evaluation version) to recover deleted pictures on a memory card!
something happened during the scan process, after step 2 and I had to close the programme.

Anyway I’m left now with a CardRecovery folder that has been created during the scan process. in the CardRecovery folder, there is a TmpFiles sub-folder with all the temroary pictures, which have the “~CR” extention and I can’t open them!
eg. files look like this. Temporary_v5_File0001_JPG.~cr

Is there a tool that allows me to decode those files and be able to review them?
Where to get that tool ?

The ~CR file extension is sometimes used by data recovery software for images that were recovered from memory card or hard drives.

In most cases renaming the ~CR file extension to the original extension (most likely JPEG) should make them accessible by image viewers again. This works because recovery software does not alter the data it recovers, so if it was JPEG it will still be JPEG. Sometimes however, images are not fully recovered and can be damaged (lines, chopped images, squares, error drawing, or no full image, etc.).

This file extension can also sometimes be used for temporary files.
