Can I Tell Where A Forwarded Email Was Originally Sent To?

I discovered I had not received an important email and contacted the person to ask if it was indeed sent…. They have today forwarded the email to me. How can I check that it was indeed sent to my email on the original date and not tampered with before forwarding as I have never failed to receive email from the same person before? I use gmail

    1. Internet email was never conceived of as a secure means of communication. Anyone can change the contents of a message and forward it to someone else with no way of detecting the changes. The only way to verify the message was sent would be to examine the files in the senders computer or the logs maintained by the email provider. Of course you have to access to either.
