  1. Open File Explorer from the taskbar.
Select View > Options > Change folder and search options.
Select the View tab and, in Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives and OK.

  2. even if it is hidden you would be able to edit or open have you tried going to the command prompt and typing edit lock.bat, maybe you will get lucky?

  3. If the name of the file is definitely “Lock.bat” you should be able to search and find it. Then you construct Unlock.bat, put it in the same place and double click it.
All this assumes that Lock.bat was constructed using the methods given in the links. If not then if you can find it you could temporarily turn it in to Lock.txt and paste the contents on here. We should then be able to assist in creating Unlock.bat

Was it you that set up this lock in the first place, if not then what is the story?

  4. See this:

    Note the unlock.bat file.

Has anyone else had access to your computer?

To show hidden files and folders in XP go to:
Control Panel > Folder Options > View. Put the blob in “Show hidden files and folders”.
It might help in this situation to “temporarily” allow protected files to show but it is not adviseable to leave the system permanently set that way.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome – thanks
