It’s the hard drive that’s in it, and the usb port it’s plugged into which needs drivers, but they are already built in to Windows XP and later versions. (Windows XP, however, needs Service Pack 1 or higher for USB 2.0 support).
Because the actual docking station itself doesn’t need a driver, manufacturers don’t supply one. Try the docking station and drive on a different PC if possible. If still no joy, the docking station may be faulty. When you connect the docking station to a PC, and with a drive inserted into it, you should hear the drive spin up as soon as you supply power to it. No spin up means either a faulty drive, faulty dock, or no power getting to it.

Slow boot time may be caused by the BIOS trying to configure the hardware. Did you ever install the drivers off the CD that came with the Motherboard?
Once you are in the BIOS you need to adjust some settings. Time and date first. Then boot order.
Read the manual. Especially the section on the DUAL BIOS on that board.
Do you know if your System Restore is turned on (MS forget to turn it back on after feature updates)?If so you could see if there is a restore point dated just before your problem came along. If so go for it, your own stuff is not affected.The other thing you could try is discharging the motherboardRead more

The other thing you could try is discharging the motherboard components, like this: Turn off computer and remove power cord. Remove main laptop battery then hold the Power Off/On button down for at least 20 seconds. As you have now updated drivers it is unlikely to help but if the battery is easy to remove it would still be worth trying.
