If you created the disks correctly from the download then the install shouldn’t be a problem. You boot up with the first disk and follow the on-screen instructions. It’s possible you’ll get an error saying something about there already being an operating system on the drive. If so, that’s because you previously sys’d the drive. The easiest way to fix that is probably to reformat the drive and then NOT sys it and then start again with disk 1.

Dos 6.22 installs on a fat16 partition which is limited in size to no more than 2 gig. You didn’t mention the hard drive size but I’m sure it’s larger than 2 gig. That should be OK. 6.22’s fdisk will simply take up the first 2 gig of the drive. The remaining space could be used for an XP install if you still wanted to do that. Again you need to follow the instructions in the MS link if you want to do that.

The way you get into the bios is probably exactly the same as for your specific model, if your specific model is different. Look in the Owner’s or User’s manual if that’s not found in other info.

Different brands of brand name system computers don’t necessarily use, and often don’t use, the same key to access the bios Setup.

Some laptops briefly display a line while booting that tells you what key you need to press to access the Bios or Setup.

You are dealing with a laptop that has ATI graphics onboard. It cannot run NVIDIA drivers. I’m not certain how the system works but the 120hz graphics ( 60hz to each eye) has to be synchronized with the 3D glasses. You would need to know how the IR emitter is controlled. Whether that is done from within the Power DVD programming & Video codecs or is something linked to the graphics drivers. The technology seems to still be in early development and it might not be possible to use the Nvidia peripheral hardware without Nvidia graphics.

Boot with a Ubuntu disk; go on-line; scan with Trend Housecall – freebie on-lne scan; repeat with perhaps AVast, AVG, and Sophos… If there’s anything nasty there.. likely they will find it…

Also when you boot up – perhaps repeat say Housecall and one or two of the others; and also install (freebie) Bitdefender, and Malwarebytes. Let them scan fully too…

I might be more inclined to suspect either the graphics adapter or – and a very long shot at that… – the display itself.

If you connect an external display to the laptop to see how that performs? It will eliminate the built-in display if the external gives the same effect as the built-in one… but still leave the graphics adapter as a possible?

To eliminate most aspects the current OS itself… what happens if you boot to safe-mode? Similarly if you were to boot with Ubuntu disk?

The two obvious places to look for the drivers would be the HP/Compaq website or the Intel site. But you need to know the full model number for your system. “Deskpro EP Series” ain’t gonna get it done. You need the numbers that come after that. That info is printed on the case somewhere…if not on the front, look for a tag/label on the back. Once you find it, look here:

Or you can try Intel’s site:
