You are going to need a direct ethernet cable (Cat5 or higher) access to the network to make this work. The cable modem/router is the least likely to be a good or easy choice.
If you do not have Cat5 access to the network then you will need to purchase a Wifi Range Extender which the routers are not suitable for. These can take in a signal in a fairly strong area of your living area and extend a new area of coverage outward from that point.
Power-line (aka home plug) adapters - avoid tp-link as they seem to have the most problems. Netgear, and D-link seem to make more reliable modules for N. Am/Canada. In the UK/Europe my first choice is Devolo (they were first in the field), as they are generally the most reliable in my view. HoweverRead more

find the reset button on the router. Hold it in with a paperclip as you power cycle the router. This will undo the changes you made. You will need to logon and set everything up properly again since it is back to factory defaults.

Internet >> SOHO Router >> switch(es) >> Clients/Servers
Now lets say you want to be able to allow remote access from external sites to an internal server located within your LAN.
A typical SOHO router, as well as proving DHCP and NAT will also provid firewall protection. Most, if not all SOHO Router’s also allow you to do what’s called a port forward which allows you to direct external access to an internal resource. Alternatively, you could also put the server in the DMZ in order to allow external access to it.
So now, with a simple SOHO Router, you can have two different methods for accessing an internal server without hanging it out on the internet with an external IP address.
So I guess what I’m wondering is, why you haven’t done something like this (ie: either a port forward to an internal resource or, move the internal resource into the DMZ)?

If you desolder that one and take it to an electronics shop they may be able to tell you exactly what its rating is or suggest a close enough replacement. The other option is to take one from a junked motherboard. I would think the rating of any fuse used for the same purpose would be about the same.
