Solved date format in excel 10 will not show uk format dd/mm/yy

in spread sheet if I format a cell as English uk date format dd/mm/yy I have to input data as mm/dd/yy and it shows it as uk format but if I input it as uk format it does not. All my older version spread sheets and accounts when opened with excel 10 give me wrong format. I have checked that the transition mormula boxes are unchecked

    1. It is not an Excel issue.
      I believe what you need to do is change the System Date Format,
      it is probably set for US and you need to change to UK.

      This is for Win 7, but Win 10 should be similar.
