Solved Network Printer Prints Automatically

  • 0

My Epson Multifunction Wifi Network Printer (Epson Photo Stylus TX800TW) has been working fine for pretty long time. It has been always set not to print automatically on incoming fax.

Not until recently it is printing automatically, one page after another (even all networked PCs were shutdown except the WiFi router, fax line unplugged), with this content:

1. GET http://xx.qq.com/ HTTP/1.1
2. User-Agent:Mozilla/4.0(compatible;MSIE 7.0;Windows NT 6.1;Trident/5.0;
3. Proxy-Connection:Keep-Alive
4. Accept:*/*
5. Host:xx.qq.com

One page with these 6 lines and then another page with the same 6 lines. When power-off the printer, it says “Printing Fax on progress, power-off will cancel the printing …….”. Scanned the systems, the PCs were not infected.

Any one has idea of what is this xx.qq.com doing on my home network? Please help.

  1. That can happen if someone connects to your printer via a web browser on whatever port it listens for print jobs on, typically port 9100.

    You aren’t allowing access to this printer from outside your network are you?

    When you find this system, restart the print spooler with:

    net stop spooler && net start spooler
