Is 73 Kbps Speed Good For Windows7?

  • 0

I am trying to download and watch an educational video and it won’t play.
The owners of the videos said to make sure I had the latest Flash Player…I
have ‘ 11 ‘ . And that my computer speed was high. Did a speed test and
got Download: 73 kbps and Upload: 240 kbps…which means nothing to me.
Don’t know if those are good or bad speeds….fast enough or too slow.
Thanks for any input – calgoldy

  1. You have two things going against you, wireless and the fact that you live in a rural area.
Wireless is not the best way to connect to the Internet, especially of you are are some distance from the router . It can be erratic and the further you are way from the rioter, the worse it gets.

The fact that you live in a rural areas is a major factor. DSL speeds are dependant on the distance you are from the local telephone exchange. DSL is only go for up to 5 km or about 3 miles. After the that the speed drops of rapidly. This may be your problem

Try connecting to the router by wire and see if that improves things.

If you are more than three miles from the telephones exchange then there is not a lot you can do except move to an urban area.
