I’m trying to set up internet connection sharing so that I can plug my xbox 360 into the ethernet port of my netbook and use the WiFi. I’d done this before, and it worked fine, the exact same setup and configuration, but now I’m having a problem with it. When I try to enable ICS on the wireless adapter, I get this error:
“An error occurred while Internet Connection Sharing was being enabled. Internet Connection Sharing cannot be enabled. A LAN connection is already configured with the IP address that is required for automatic IP addressing.”
I’m not sure why I’m getting this error, I haven’t changed anything on the network set up. It works fine when I use my other laptop for ICS, but not on this one. I tried restoring the router to factory defaults and setting up the netbook on it first, but no good. I have the Bell white 2Wire modem/router. My IP settings are as follows:
Router DNS/Default Gateway/DHCP – 192.168.2.1
LAN Address (for the netbook’s WiFi on the network) – 192.168.2.24
Subnet (for the netbook’s WiFi on the network) – 255.255.255.0
Subnet for Ethernet adapter on netbook – 255.255.0.0
I’m using a Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 netbook running Windows 7 Ultimate.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Paul

Did you follow the above steps?
Subnet needs to be 255.255.255.0 or on the connected pc set it to 255.255.0.0 so the two can communicate.
I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.
Method 1: Follow the steps below
Set ICS service start mode to Automatic (delayed)
Press Windows + R, type services.msc
Select internet connection sharing
Select startup type as automatic
Restart your PC or stop/start service.
This service will loaded after windows starting in about 5 minutes.
Method 2: To make ICS work on startup.
Go to run->services.msc but then, aside from checking ICS service, CHECK FOR “Routing and Remote Access” if it’s on manual you need to set it to Automatic-delayed and turned on.
Default was turned “OFF”, not even “Manual”.
After you changed it for “Automatic” and pressed start check if it helps.
Hope this helps.
