Enable a Port On a 3Com Switch

  • 3

3com ethernet switch 4200 series
By mistake, i used the web console to disable all the ports on the switch. There was a very good reason to disable all the ports, but i shouldn’t have disabled Port 26, which was a communication port between switches. Of course, i can’t contact the web interface for the switch. So i will have to console into the switch

Please, what is the command required to re-enable the port(s).
i did download a 3com command line guide, but there is just too many and the explanation is also unclear. i understand the obvious ‘no shutdown’ is not used for enabling or disabling ports on the ethernet switch

  1. If you’ve left the switch set to it’s default with VLAN 1 being the only VLAN on it, you should be able to plug into any port on the switch, give your computer/laptop an IP in the same subnet as your switch and then be able to either telnet or http into the switch from your computer.

Your switch does have an IP doesn’t it?

The only 3com I have left is a 4400. I suspect the interface (and commands) are the same so if you can’t http directly into the switch then let me know and I’ll dig it out and find a null modem cable to console in and then I’ll have a quick look at how to reenable your interface.
