Solved Files And Folders Can’t Be Moved On Desktop

Can’t move any files or folders on my desktop. Using: MacBook Air with OSX 10.7.5
When I click and try to move an icon, the area around the icon turns dark – and I cannot move the icon. Happened suddenly – and I have no clue as to why or how to correct this.

      This problem was solved for my MacBook Air desktop by doing the following:

      I hit Option,Command,Escape to get Force Quit
      Relaunched the Finder

      That did it. Can now move everything on desktop.
