I honestly dont think your ipod can be infected, the IOS is needs to be jailbroken in order to execute a virus, and if your ipod is not jailbroken i wouldnt worry too much about it. Having said that, i you are still concered, instead of trying to find an application to scan it, which i doubt will work anyways, i would just reset the ipod to factory and be done with it that way you can be sure the virus, if any are gone.
In terms of wifi, i understand it can be a bit dawnting but no need to worry, if you have questions just post them here and the experts on this site will no doubt help, we are a friendly bunch 🙂
As long as you have a password set for your wifi and have either WEP, WPA or WPA2 encryption enabled (depending on your router) you should be fine. A firewall is also recommended for an additional layer of security.
It may be worth backing your photos up onto a DVD/Blueray disk, hard drives at some point will fail, sometimes without warning, it is possible to recoever data on a failed hard drive sometimes, but it is expensive.
You can scan your usb drives, just plug them in before you run a scan and they should be scanned automatically. Some programs like AVG will give you the option to select which drives you want to scan
So you clarify:
Your ipod cannot be infected unless its jailbroken
Im not aware of any ipod scanning tools, but if you still want to be sure i would reset to factory
Backup your data to a DVD of Blueray
Download the software i recommended above update them once installed and perform a full scan.
Let us know how you get on
