Why Would My Hdd Keep Trying To Spool?

  • 0

I have transferred a hard drive which works perfectly in one pc to an old pc. When I power it up, the hard drive starts to spin and then seems to reset and start to spool up again. sometimes it works ok for a little while. but then it’ll go back into a cycle of trying to spool up again. As this hdd works in another pc I’m stumped on what is wrong with it. I’m thinking maybe the power supply is struggling with the current for some reason? has anybody got any ideas what could cause this please?

  1. I’d also take the precaution of duplicating/copying anything imprtant on the drive in question to another storage media. Typically DVD at least; and even another external hard drive too is nice(r).

This will ensure that “if” the drive fails – for whatever reasons… – your “stuff” is already safe elsewhere.
