USB Jump Drive LED Don’t Blink When Plugged In

  • 3

Was using a Sony 4GB MicroVault flash drive thought I was finished using the files, removed the drive from my computer then realized that I needed to print one more thing. Put the flash drive back in and now the LED light will only stay on steady will not blink. The message appears that the USB is not recognized. Is there hope to get my data off the drive?

  1. In that case I think this drive is faulty. How that happens? Who knows but the most common cause is the failure to use the Safety Remove Hardware routine before pulling out the device,

Below is a list of LED behaviors which are all NORMAL (courtesy of ScanDisk).
    1. LED is a solid light and blinks only when transferring files to the device.
    2. LED blinks rapidly during initialization then turns off. LED then only blinks when data is being transferred.
    3. LED breaths (slowly fades in and out) when device is not being used and blinks rapidly when data is being transferred.

A drive with no LED activity, or red LED or solid or constantly blinking LED can be cosidered faulty or corrupted (remember this is just MY BEST OPINION and I am not the authority on this thing 🙂
