Solved Troubleshoot A2 Code Shown On Post Before PC Boots

  • 1

I built my computer about a year ago and have never had any problems until about a month ago. The screen suddenly just turned blue and froze. After rebooting, it happened again. I booted in safe mode and it was gone for a couple days. Then it began again, but only about once or twice per day, and simply required a reboot. However, this has become the least of my concerns. Today, when I tried to turn my computer on, it just stayed on the A2 screen. If I press ctrl-alt-delete then it goes back to black screen for a moment, and then stays on the A2 screen. Last night, I used my computer without any problems, and today, for seemingly no reason, my computer has been rendered utterly useless. How can I fix this?

  1. Try unplugging and re-plugging your SATA connections several times (both ends) to clear any oxide off the connections. You could also try a different SATA port or renew your SATA cable.

    EDIT:
The above should be tried before any software solution, as SATA connections are a known culprit for producing this A2 screen

Always pop back and let us know the outcome – thanks
