Hi,
I have a Toshiba Satellite A215-S4807. When I start it, it freezes at the screen that says ‘In touch with tomorrow TOSHIBA’
At the bottom it says ‘Press F2 for setup Press F12 for boot device selection’
I’ve tried both those keys as I switch it on and F12 does nothing. F2 however says ‘Please wait’ but then nothing happens…It just keeps like that… when I press ‘esc’ a black screen appears that says:
1919 M System RAM Passed
1024 KB L2 Cache
System BIOS shadowed
Video BIOS shadowed
ATAPI CD-ROM: hL-dT-sT DvDrAm gSa-t20N
Press F2 for setup Press F12 for boot device selection
Again, nothing happens when pressing any key…
Then I press ‘alt+ctrl+del’ and goes back to the ‘In touch with tomorrow TOSHIBA’ screen…. nothing else works…
Can anyone help, please.
Usually bad hard drives, maybe faulty memory, will cause this. If it happens with all your storage drives removed and different memory, I’d assume something is wrong with either the BIOS (firmware) or something on the main board causing POST to stall. You might need to have the board serviced or replaced.
If you’re BIOS is working good then is must be a problem with your hard drive or the operating system, download the ISO version of your OS in another PC and make a bootable USB using Rufus, after that just boot on the USB and select the repair button.
If the unit can POST, test the HDD with the manufacturers (of the HDD) disk check utility
Could be bad motherboard, faulty component – RAM, DVD/CD ROM, HDD, Modem. Unplug it from power, pull out the battery, RAM, any other components that you can – HDD, DVD/CD rom, WiFi adapters, Modem, USB/Flash memory cards and other peripherals (if applicable). Then plug the laptop into AC power and try to turn it on to see if there’s any life to it. If there is, add back in one thing at a time and test boot each time:
– Battery
– RAM – inspect RAM slots, blow out with compressed air
– HDD
– DVD/CD rom
– WiFi adapter
– Modem
etc…
