Anthropic has finalized a partnership with SpaceXAI to utilize Colossus 1, an expansive AI supercomputer, delivering substantial computing resources to the company behind Claude.
SpaceXAI, previously operating as xAI and creator of the Grok chatbot, completed its merger with SpaceX during the current year. Elon Musk oversees the unified entity while simultaneously managing Tesla.
The partnership grants Anthropic access to upwards of 220,000 Nvidia GPUs along with more than 300 megawatts of fresh capacity, all arriving within 30 days.
Anthropic intends to deploy these additional resources toward expanding usage capabilities for Claude customers. Users on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscription tiers will experience doubled five-hour rate limits for Claude Code.
The organization is simultaneously eliminating peak hours limit reductions affecting Claude Code for Pro and Max subscribers. Rate limits for Opus models via API will see increases as well.
Wells Fargo analysts suggest the partnership may accelerate Anthropic’s revenue performance. The firm’s research team highlighted that Anthropic’s annualized revenue climbed to $44 billion recently, advancing from $30 billion at April’s conclusion and $14 billion during February.
Explosive Growth Led to Service Disruptions
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei issued an apology this week following service interruptions that affected users throughout the company’s model lineup.
During remarks at Anthropic’s developer conference, Amodei disclosed that revenue expanded 80-fold throughout the opening quarter of 2025. He explained the company had prepared infrastructure for only 10-fold expansion.
“That is the reason we have had difficulties with compute,” Amodei stated. He emphasized that Anthropic is pursuing efforts to deliver additional capacity with maximum speed.
The SpaceXAI partnership potentially enables future collaborative endeavors. Anthropic has communicated interest in collaborating with SpaceX on orbital AI computing infrastructure capable of multi-gigawatt capacity.
Anthropic’s Comprehensive Infrastructure Strategy
The SpaceXAI partnership represents one element within Anthropic’s broader infrastructure expansion strategy.
The organization established an agreement with Amazon to obtain up to 5 gigawatts of capacity. The initial gigawatt is anticipated to activate by late 2026.
Anthropic has additionally arranged agreements with Google and Broadcom for capacity scheduled to activate during 2027. A collaborative arrangement with Microsoft and Nvidia secures capacity delivery through Azure.
An investment involving Fluidstack remains active to support ongoing AI infrastructure development throughout the United States.
The Colossus 1 arrangement with SpaceXAI delivers the quickest timeline among these partnerships, with GPU access anticipated within the current month.
