My W7 PC Is Making USB Da-Dum & De-Dum Sound

  • 3

Ok so here’s the problem. Every time i log into to netbook/notebook whatever it is, i keep getting the beeping sound you get when you plug something into the usb drive. Its extremely annoying it keeps cycling through about every 10 seconds going “dodum, dedum” you know the one when you plug your mouse in etc. Well its gotten to the point where iv’e had to mute my computer. A little message comes up every now and then but it dissapears and all i can read is “USB 2.0”. Its only started doing it today but its getting very annoying and i havent a clue what to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated 🙂

  1. If you have NOTHING plugged into USB ports the ONLY thing that can cause your symptoms is the computer is damaged or a connection inside the computer is loose !!

The most common causes of that are dropping the computer or subjecting it to a physical jolt, or spilling liquid on it or exposing it to liquid such as rain or spraying liquid on it.

  2. Assuming you have NOT dropped this computer and have NOT spilled liquid on it…..
All your symptoms are caused by a poor USB connection.

Examine the USB ports and the plugs on the USB cable or other device you’re using to to see whether they’re damaged.
E.g. Bent – such that the fit of the plug is loose – stretched outer metal shell in the port, squished metal outer shell on a plug; bent or loose contacts in the port or plug, the plastic blocking plug that prevents you from plugging in a USB plug upside down is loose or missing.

If you’re using an external USB hub, try plugged each USB device directly into ports built into the computer.

If you don’t see anything wrong with the USB plugs or ports, if whatever you’re connecting has a cord, wires inside the cord are probably damaged.
