The small circle just keeps going round & round and the wording on the screen is “Shutting Down…” but it’s been hours and it still does not shut down.

Hold the power button in until it shuts down (mostly about 5 seconds or so will do it).
Let us know if you still get an issue when you restart computer or when you shut it down again.
