Does anyone know how to make Ie7 default to a certain paper type?
Here is the issue, at work I have moved a networked printer from a secondary pc, to the main server that is also used as a work station, it is used primarily for printing A4 documents both locally and over the network but also is used for printing electronic con notes, therein lies the problem, the con notes are only slightly larger than A4(about 5mm longer) but print just outside the allowable print margins of A4 (quite unnecessarily I might add, just to have a the date printed right at the bottom, but I will spare the rant…). So I must specify legal paper.
I have set this up but only one issue remains, IE takes the default paper from the printer settings, as do other programs. Selecting legal from page setup works but doesn’t stick. I could change the default paper to legal system wide, but then I’m left with the same problem in reverse.
I have already tried a registry edit for “HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet Settings” using a dword “PaperSize” with a value of 5, but it didn’t work.
I have also though of adding the same printer twice and trying to get IE to default to the second instance, but this is more difficult because the printer it local, and windows doesn’t seem to like having the same local printer setup twice.
The printer is a HP 2420n laser printer.
Any suggestions?
