i don’t have any compatible components to use in trouble shooting my problem but i’m sure it’s either the memory or the processer
the post code the bios hangs on is 16. does anybody have an educated guess as to which component needs to be replaced.
when i replaced the board after after removing it for cleaning it did not boot and there was a power connector stuck to the pins on the under side of the board directly under the memory slots but i don’t know if it shorted out or not. and i dont know if the if the board would even show a post code at all if the processer was bad
an evga tech said post code 16 means a bios initialization problem
You need to check with the motherboard manufactures t find out exactly what error code 16 actually means bearing in mind that 16 is probbaly the Hexadecimal number, not a decimal number.
16 Hex – 22 decimal
Its definitely a BIOS initialisation problem, but what is causing it can only be guess work without the details of you particular BIOS.
If it is an Award, AMI or Phoenix BIOS, three of the most common, then following my give you a clue. Scroll down to the bottom of the pages for the later versions.
