F3-F100-0003 Error Code

  • 1

I recently had to replace the HDD in my P505-S8980. Unfortunately none of the electronics stores around here sell the exact model of the one that died so had to settle for a Western Digital that has 200 gigs less room than the original. At the same time I also purchased the Media Recovery Disks for it as well. Once they arrived I then swapped out the HDD, Put Disk 1 of 3 of the Recovery disks into the optic drive, powered it on and after a few minutes of “Windows is loading the files” nonsense. a window pops up saying:

<Error>

An error has occurred.

ERROR : F3-F100-0003

An error has occured.
Please press [OK] to turn off the computer.

Now thats all fine and great except that it doesn’t tell me squat in terms of how to fix this F3-F100-0003 ordeal. Any suggestions?

  1. I did check online for an exact replacement HDD, cheapest I could find one for was $265.00. Only had a warranty for 6 months, Purchaced this unit at the beginning of this last fall term. So 6 months came and went. The original HDD completely died while I was attempting a rather large data transfer. Obviously thats all gone now as well. Have’nt been able to Format & partition, this F3-F100-0003 error comes up and shuts me down before I can get to that part of the installation. And finally, yes, the original HDD did have a partition that contained the System Recovery files, but none of that is required to perform a System Recovery using these disk’s. Still looking for an answer to the original question….

    F3-F100-0003… What does this error mean specificly? What causes it to show up.? Is there anyway of getting around it?
