Solved Dell Vostro 1015 Keyboard Stopped Working

Hello,
I have a Dell Vostro 1015 laptop that was bought last summer. Out of the blue my keyboard stopped working. It doesn’t work on the log in screen and it doesn’t work when in windows.
I have a usb keyboard plugged into it right now and it works but the built in keyboard doesn’t work. I honestly can’t figure out why it happened, when I say “out of the blue” I mean nothing happened out of the ordinary (drop, spill, etc).

  1. Okay, quick test, when you turn your computer on tap the f12 key, does your boot menu come up? If it does then there is a windows problem, if it does not then it’s a keyboard problem.

    If your keyboard is bad, your computer is still under warranty and you should contact Dell to get it replaced.
