Dell Laptop Won’t Recognize Non-Dell Battery

I recently replaced the battery in my laptop with a battery that is not a dell battery. After restarting the laptop, it will not recognize the battery and bios doesn’t show a battery. The laptop still works fine as long as it is plugged in. How do I change the bios settings to recognize this battery?

      Make sure you got the right battery. Your issue could also be related to the charging system on the D620’s motherboard.

      Also, you may want to run the Dell Diagnostics – look for a Dell blue & white Drivers & Utilities CD (if you have it), or the Diags can be downloaded from Dell’s website, and you can make a bootable CD. Boot to that CD, run the diagnostics, there should be a Battery Charger Test in the Diags too.
