Computer Won’t Turn On, Only Power Led On.

  • 24

Hi! About a week ago i was on my computer and out of the blue it turned off, and wouldn’t turn back on after that. I did some reading online and it seemed like it was most likely the power supply, so i replaced it, still didn’t turn on. Tried getting a new motherboard and again didn’t work. I’m positive the power connectors are in correctly, could another one of my parts be causing this problem? Just to clarify, NOTHING turns on, no fans, only the power led.

  1. Go into your BIOS. Select only the hard drive that has your OS on it and make that one bootable and all other hard drives not bootable. Then go to your boot order and make sure that the CD/DVD drive is first and the hard drive is second and nothing else is listed. Save Changes and Exit.
If there is still any boot confusion, run msconfig and look at the boot tab. Only one instance of Windows should be there unless you installed multiple times and/or on multiple drives. remove or disable inactive ones (you can get help removing them later), Apply and restart the machine.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
