Solved Asus Eee Pc Problems… Keyboard Does Not Type

I cannot type letters a to z and numbers 0 to 9 on my ee pc 901.
I called the asus helpline and they suggested it was a hardware fault but i wonder if it is possible to restore the keyboard by typing certain keys such as alt and F9.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
