Acer Aspire One 722 Is Running Hot

  • 5

Have installed a new motherboard in this dual core netbook because the original one was running hot and freezing/crashing. The new motherboard is also running hot (as high as 90 c ). Could it be a faulty fan?

  1. I did a little reading and found many people complaining that these do run hot. It has been my experience that ALL “laptop” computers do. This is the reason that most manufacturers now refer to them as notebooks because any use that obscures the vent louvers on the bottom, such as using them on your lap or bed, causes overheating. I would check the fan and the manufacturers specs for heat but I suspect that the real problem is poor design. You might try very carefully drilling some extra vent holes near the heating issue but this could even make the trouble worse as I’m sure the manufacturer has consider air flow in the unit as delivered and allowing air to flow more easily in one place will reduce flow in another.
