65W Error Message

  • 0

While installing a new mobo, this:

http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb…

I bench tested it, I initially got a good post but after a few minutes I got this error message:

“The max power of CPU is over 65w, will shut done in” then a 5 second countdown and it shuts down.

I am using this power supply:

Don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I checked all the connections, the cpu and video card fans work and I got the power supply connections right( both the 24 pin JATXPWR1 and the 4 pin JATXPWR2).

Any help out there would be greatly appreciated.

  1. The message tells you what you are doing wrong & so does the link you supplied to the motherboard. Your board only supports CPUs that are rated at 65W or less. You apparently installed a CPU that’s rated higher than that. The problem has nothing to do with the power supply. The problem is that you installed a CPU that is NOT supported by the board.

Here is the CPU support list:

The Q6600 (if that’s what you have) is rated at 105W:

Either get a different motherboard or a different CPU.
