Loaded DOS 6.22 from CD on to Compaq Notebook. The DOS partition was 2GB. Computer booted perfectly.
Then, I attempted to load Windows XP via CD onto a 7Gbyte Partition. I received a message from BIOS inviting me to boot from CD. I hit a key to say “Yes”
The computer simply booted into DOS 6.22
I tried then to attempt Windows 7. Once again, computer booted into DOS 6.22.
I then decided to delete the DOS partition.
I was then able to load Windows XP.
I would be grateful if anyone could suggest what the problem might be.
Make sure you install to the partition/drive not containing DOS.
When the XP setup is complete, it should give you a boot menu that will allow you to choose between Windows XP and DOS.
