    1. What is the current processor installed? Why a quad core chip?
      Because of phenom x4 9500 is supported, phenom x4 9600 may work but it is not in the supported CPU list of Dell Optiplex 740.

      Phenom x4 9600B is the highest quad core chip Dell 740 can take.
