So, I just upgraded my PC from an i5 to an i7 9700K. I’m now watching the temp very closely to make sure it’s working normal. Right now, my computer is at an idle. Some reason the cpu is showing 30% usage. But, the CPU temp is 65 C. I ran some stress tests. I just ran prime95 on it and it didn’t get above 70 C. It just seems to be running hotter than the i5 did, which makes me a little nervous. I’m not overclocking it and I don’t plan to.

I don’t have an i7 but I did a quick search – idle temp below 40C, max temp under load under 75C.
“…if you have an Intel processor, you could say that a CPU core temperature of over 40-45-degrees Celsius while idling and/or a temperature of over 80-85-degrees Celsius while under full load is probably a cause for concern.”
