Phenom II X6 1055t CPU; Only 1 Core Active?

  • 0

Hello,
I recently bought the AMD Phenom II X6 1055t CPU. I installed it in my ASUS M3A78-EM motherboard. I have 4GB DDR2 ram at 335mhz frequency. My motherboard should be compatible as it this CPU is in the support list and I downloaded the right BIOS version (2401).
I run windows xp (32-bit) home edition. FSB:DRAM is 3:5.

When I ran CPU-Z, I noticed that only 1 core was active. My computer didnt get any faster too, I still cant play black ops for example although I easily meet the system requirements.

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.p…

How can this happen? Is my computer power supply too low?

I only have DDR2 333… Does this make me unable to use all 6 cores?

Can and should I make it run faster?

EDIT:

According to the ASUS website my motherboard doesnt support DDR2 333. But I have been using this memory for over 2 years now.

  1. Dear Rieno,
I have the same problem after upgraded my CPU from X2 cores to X6 core.

    The solution is listed below:

Step 1: goto msconfig (Run >>> msconfig)
Step 2: Boot >>> Advanced Options
Step 3: Unclick Number of processors
    Step 4: Reboot

  2. The solution was posted a few comments back. You have to upgrade to either XP 64 bit or windows 7 64bit to take advantage of the 6 cores. However as stated by others that does not mean that Black Ops will run faster with 6 cores recoginized. First off your memory is slower than recommended by Asus and you don’t mention as to how much memory you have but you should run at least 4 gig which again would only be recoginized by a 64bit version of windows otherwise it will only recoginize 3 gig. I had your motherboard with 4 gig of memory, and a quad core 2.8 AMD and 2- amd 4870 video cards in crossfire. Black ops lagged most of the time and I was very unhappy even though all other games worked great. I then upgraded to a 6 core 1055T, 8 gigs of ram, same video cards and a new M4289gtd pro/usb3 and Black Ops fly’s. Even though I upgrade 3 components I believe the mother board you have was the botttleneck. However before you go out and purchase a new motherboard, I would change from 32 bit to 64 and upgrade you memory. Hope this helps.
