My CPU idles around 28°C and used to peak anywhere between 45°C to 55°C maximum when I was putting it under a heavy load such as 3D rendering. Recently it’s been getting hotter and today it reached 62°C. The only thing that has changed recently is that the fans and intakes may have gotten clogged.
I plan on fitting another case fan in the side of the case, blowing inwards and possibly a 5.25inch drive bay fan blowing in as well.
The CPU has been installed for 14 months, is using the stock heatsink and thermal pad provided and I have not overclocked it at all.
The case is a small midi-tower unit with provision for 3 80mm fans, 1 in the front, 1 in the side and one in the rear.
Is this a case of bad airflow causing a heating issue in a small case, or is there some other underlying problem?
Any suggestions would be very helpful before I invest in either more fans or transplant the hardware into a larger case.
