does usb tethering is harmful for android smartphone or for its battery.Is is true or such things which i have heard are rumors only.

I’ve had no problems tethering my Ascend II and it’s been working days at a time when away from home.
I usually keep it plugged in as battery life is only a few hours with data and wireless enabled.
I have 2 extra batteries (about 10 bucks) in case I need them.
My carrier charges an extra $10/month for tethering and service slows down after about 3Gb.
No ill effects yet unless you consider the damage to my wallet.
