Fox Corporation (FOX) (FOXA) announced Thursday that Amazon Web Services will serve as its primary AI cloud provider, extending a collaboration that launched in 2022. The agreement represents a significant expansion of the existing technology partnership between the media giant and the cloud computing leader.
This strategic move positions AWS as a central component of Fox’s media technology infrastructure, spanning live streaming capabilities to content discovery systems. Following the announcement, Amazon (AMZN) and Fox shares showed minimal movement during premarket trading sessions.
The partnership focuses on delivering infrastructure for FOX One, Fox Corporation’s direct-to-consumer streaming service. AWS will deploy its Elemental MediaLive, MediaPackage, and MediaTailor platforms, combined with artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities including AWS Elemental Inference.
These integrated technologies support scalable streaming for both live and on-demand content. Additional features include automated content highlight generation, customized user recommendations, and instant reformatting of broadcasts optimized for social media distribution.
Jeff Dow, EVP of Platform and Media Technology at Fox, emphasized that the partnership enables the company to “accelerate innovation across every part of our business.” He highlighted specific advancements in content delivery through FOX One and optimization of the company’s media supply chain.
Samira Panah Bakhtiar, General Manager of Media & Entertainment at AWS, noted that combining Fox’s extensive content library with AWS’s generative AI capabilities creates “new ways to create, deliver and monetize content at scale.”
Growing Collaboration Between Media and Cloud Giants
The initial partnership formed in 2022, with continuous expansion following the inaugural agreement. Fox deployed Amazon Media Replay Engine during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, automatically generating 731 recap videos spanning 61 matches — an initiative that subsequently extended to additional live sporting events.
Fox enhanced its streaming infrastructure throughout 2023 using AWS technology to support 4K resolution with HDR color and sub-second latency performance. That year, Fox demonstrated its AI and data platform capabilities at AWS Summit NY, implementing tools including Amazon SageMaker, Amazon Personalize, Amazon Bedrock, and Amazon Titan.
Fox’s digital properties currently serve more than 300 million monthly active users globally.
Amazon Web Services Maintains Cloud Market Leadership
AWS commands approximately 30% of the cloud computing market as of late 2025, based on data from Synergy Research Group. This market position places the platform ahead of competitors Microsoft (MSFT) and Alphabet’s Google (GOOG).
The Fox agreement brings another prominent media partner to AWS’s client portfolio during a period of intense competition among cloud providers for AI-driven workloads across multiple sectors.
Fox recently implemented AWS Elemental Inference to automatically convert 16:9 live sports broadcasts into vertical formats suitable for social platform distribution — achieving near real-time processing speeds.
