After re-installing windows XP I discovered my COM & LPT ports missing. Right now I’m obviously not all that worried about printing, however I do need to get online.
I’ve attempted turning my computer off, then back on, in hopes of that being the problem, however it doesn’t appear to be that.
I’ve also attempted to manually install it off the XP disk, only to discover that I can’t even find the ports on the disk, either.
Because of this I’ve run out of options; I prefer windows XP to vista so I don’t want to borrow a disk and just upgrade in hopes of a quick fix. Is there anywhere I can go to just download it online onto a disk?
review Device manager. Are they listed but with yellow exclaimation points? if so you need to install the mainboard drivers for those ports.
