What Causes Duplicate Registry Entries

what would cause this sort of problem?..dual registry entries as such:
this is entry one
this is entry one 1

all the info regarding description is the same EXCEPT THE NUMBER ONE ON THE SECOND ENTRY

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM HERE? am i missing something…very odd…thanks in advance

  1. Duplicate keys. Duplicate keys are made when you reinstall, upgrade or update software on your machine, including the operating system. Registry cleaner software will state that your programs will be confused by the duplicate entries, slowing your machines performance, but that is not true.
  2. Fragmented registry. The registry can also fragment when software is uninstalled, upgraded or updated.
  3. System shutdown errors. Each time your computer shuts down, a copy of the registry is saved to system memory. If your computer is turned off, crashes or dies without going through the normal shutdown routine, it could cause an issue in the future, but this is unlikely.
