Excel: Chge ‘Input’ Date Format MM/dd dd/MM

Hello,

I know how to change ‘output’ format of dates on Excel
However,
Does any one know how to change the ‘input’ format of a date ?

–> i.e. when I enter 5/10/09, the computer understands 10-May-09 instead of 5-Oct-09
