Since installing System Mechanic and running a couple analyses and recommended repairs, my PC and Internet are slower than ever. Also my gateway ip is missing. Emailed System Mechanic from their site, but email didn’t seem to be working. Is this thing a fraud?

Whilst no doubt there are some who may have found it ok… many have not.
Many (but not all…) of these fix it packages create false alerts, create problems in a system that was generally ok… Usual advice is to avoid them like the plague; unless you can find indepenent, bona-fide reviews and recommendations for a given one.
I would uninstall it; then run a few cleaner apps to ensure you have gotten rid ot fully.
