Comment: i have placed the same 40 g/b hdd into two machines neither of them work any more.was it me or the hard drive.did nothing else just took one out and put the other in,

Reply: (edit) Did you try putting the original disk back in and rebooting? There are alot of reasons why a disk wouldn't work but, while certainly possible, it is unlikely that a disk would short out a machine.
