Comment:

The SparcStation 5 was working fine, but it had the following problems after I successfully installed I/O Jaz drive and rebooted afterwards:

Boot device: /iomu/sbus/espdma@5, 8400000/esp5,880000/sd@1.0 File and args:
Bad magic number in disk label
can't open disk label package
Can't open boot device

--------
I then tried boot cdrom -s, it still couldn't boot from cdrom -s.

I have been struggling for several days, does any one have experience or solution on this?

thanks,

enok

Is the JAZ drive on the same controller as the disk you're booting from? That boot param shows that the boot disk is at target 1 so you don't have the JAZ drive set as the same target ID do you? :o/

Are you getting the same problem without the Jaz drive attached to the bus?

Mark,

Thanks for looking at my question, I am desperate for the solutions...

If I check by probe-scsi ==> (w/ JAZ on)
Target 0 Unit 0 Removable Disk iomega jaz 1GB J.8302/28/97
Target 1 Unit 0 DIsk IBM DCAS32160SUN2.1GS60B97185C2897
Target 3 Unit 0 Disk FUJITSU MAG3091L SUN9.0G1111000541331
Target 4 Unit 0 Removable Read Only device TOSHIBA CD-ROM XM-6401TA10911/25/98

Target 1 was my bootable disk, but I can't remember how I make the JAZ work including if I have even made JAZ sharing the Target 1.

If I did so, how can I remedy this problem? I did remember I labeled the JAZ and everthing was fine until I reboot the machine again.

Oh, yes, I get same error message even the JAZ is not connected.

Thanks in advance for your time & suggestion.
