No Mobo Speaker."},"content":{"rendered":"
Weirdest issue I’ve had. I’m sure I’m overlooking some trivial thing. It’s a new setup for my brother. The setup is as follows:
\n[list] Mobo: ASRock Z270 KILLER SLI\/AC LGA 1151. [\/list]
\n[list] CPU: i5-7500 Kaby Lake Quad Core 3.4 1151. [\/list]
\n[list] HDD: WD Blue 1TB. [\/list]
\n[list] ]PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G2. [\/list]<\/p>\n
The issue is the RAM. I tried 2x8GB Ballistix 3000mhz, after having been told that it will downclock itself. This is where the strangeness began; every slot on the MOBO works fine with this RAM, with just one stick inserted. However, no matter which order I put them in, even incorrect ones (1221, etc.), it will not work with two sticks. Both sticks function fine on their own. I decide, fine, 3000mhz isn’t listed specifically on the mobo specs, maybe it’s having an issue downclocking. That RAM was Ballistix Tactical 8GB DDR4 3000. So, I swapped it out, and tried Ballistix Sport 2x8GB 2400mhz, which looks like it matches the CPU and Mobo requirements. Neither stick will work, no matter which slot or slots they’re in, either on their own or together. It simply will not boot to BIOS. All I get are fans, lights, and nothing else. Keyboard doesn’t light up, monitor gets no signal. I’m completely at a loss here. I’ve reset CMOS more times than I can count. I tried going into UEFI under the good RAM (which I no longer have; exchanged it for the new RAM) and playing with the settings to manually set the mhz, but it didn’t have any effect, except making me reset CMOS and refum I missing something re: compatibility, or have somehow managed to screw up RAM purchases twice in a row? Thanks for all your help, guys!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"iawp_total_views":20},"question-category":[47],"question_tags":[],"class_list":["post-9812","question","type-question","status-publish","hentry","question-category-hardware"],"jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/question\/9812","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/question"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/question"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=9812"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=9812"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"question-category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/question-category?post=9812"},{"taxonomy":"question_tags","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/computing.net\/answers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/question_tags?post=9812"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
