I&#8217;ve been downloading various ISOs &amp; doing backups etc. but I&#8217;ve had some issues.<\/p>\n<p>First off, I don&#8217;t really understand how\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20201024165843\/http:\/\/windows.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/which-cd-dvd-format#1TC=windows-7\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mastered\/Live File System<\/a>\u00a0work&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>If you truly can use any DVD like a USB drive, what is the point of a DVD-RW? Why do they even exist? Is it just marketing?<\/p>\n<p>I just downloaded the Windows 10 ISO and tried extracting it to one of the DVDs (formatted with Live File System)&#8230;it seemed to work fine, but I apparently forgot to press &#8216;Finish burning data to DVD&#8217; or something in Windows, so when I tried to boot from the disc it didn&#8217;t work.<\/p>\n<p>When I loaded Windows, it showed 0 bytes free &amp; no data on the disc.<\/p>\n<p>So, I figured I&#8217;d just redo the extraction. I loaded 7zip and selected the ISO, but when I began extracting to the disc it gave me errors such as &#8220;Cannot open file H:\\*&#8221; with some filename after it. (H:\\ is the DVD drive).<\/p>\n<p>I figured maybe some data WAS put on the DVD when I first extracted it, but possibly was corrupt due to me not finalizing the burn. I tried to format the disc, but it came back saying ~ 400 MB free.<\/p>\n<p>Does anyone have any idea what&#8217;s going on here? Have I ruined the disc?
